An accent wall may be scary to you, especially if you have never had one before, but accent walls can brighten your home, create contrast, and liven up the area. Before you settle on a random wall and random paint color, consider the following tips for choosing the perfect wall and color.
When you have an accent wall, you need to make sure that you balance the color of the wall with the colors in your home. If you paint the accent wall a color that does not match the décor in your home, the wall will look out of place. This is not the look you are going for. While it is an accent wall, you want it to compliment not detract from the room.
Both warm and cool colors work well and you should stick to one of them. Warm colors include yellows, reds, and oranges. Cool colors include purples, greens, and blues. While the colors may seem bold for you, they will look great in your home and liven the area up.
Your accent wall should be a special wall within your home. Any old wall will not serve as an accent wall. The wall you choose should be different than other walls in the home and they should either lead somewhere new or change the scenery within the room. For example, an accent wall could be a special wall that separates the kitchen and dining room, etc.
Accent walls are a great addition to any home, but they need to make sense. If your accent wall is just a differently colored wall, it will not accomplish what you want it to. If you need help choosing an accent wall, contact the team at J. Design Group today.
