Baby Bedroom

If you have a new addition to the family on the way, you understand the importance of having a safe space ready for them. A great baby bedroom is about so much more than just looking good. This is why many people decide to bring in the help of professionals for their baby space and to be sure they set everything up safely.

While most parents will think only about the décor of the space, a professional will also help them see the importance of the design of the space. Safety is a top issue when dealing with little ones and a professional will know key points like making sure there are no dangling cords or dangerous parts and that the window coverings (if you use any) are baby-proofed and flame retardant.

These are just the tip of the iceberg of the important things that should be considered with baby bedroom interior design. You can work with a professional will help you see to it that every single small detail is in place. The placement of the crib underneath fans of air vents is important to consider. The safety of windows and window coverings is also a safety issue. You will also need to consider the type of furniture that is used in the space and how it will be secured for when baby starts to crawl and walk.

You also want to be sure there is proper ventilation in the room and that heating and cooling is up to code and working well so baby never gets too hot or too cold.

Here are some additional tips when designing and decorating a room for a baby:

Crib safety- Avoid buying and using used cribs. There are many safety hazards that come from used cribs. Also be sure the crib is sturdy in structure and properly assembled. Never put pillows or blankets in with a newborn, due to the risk of SIDS. You should temperature control the room so that the baby does not have a need for blankets.

Furniture safety- Avoid big furniture that is too tall and will easily topple over and secure dressers and stands to the wall for added stability. Do not place large items like TVs on the tops of stands in your baby’s room.

Plan your space- Work with your designer to plan your space such as where mom or caregivers can rock with the baby to soothe or where baby can get some tummy time on the floor. Plan all of this out when designing the space.

At the end of the day, you want only the best for your baby and this is why designing the space for him or her is so important. There is more to it than just buying some pretty things and painting the walls. If you want the perfect, safe space for your new addition, seek the help of a professional interior designer today.
