Basement Remodel Project: Turn Your Basement into an Entertainment Room

by Support Team .

Friday, August 12, 2016

Often times, the basement is used as a storage area, but it does not have to be. In fact, you can transform your basement into a beautiful entertainment room that is cozy and elegant. A basement remodel project can take some time and it is vital that you sit down and choose all of the features you want to be included.

As you think about what you want to do with your basement, consider the following tips to quickly turn your basement into an entertainment room.

Basement Remodel Project Tip 1: Media Storage

You will need to store all of your media somewhere and if you have not thought much about it, now is the time. You want to have your media accessible, but you do not want it scattered throughout your basement as it will just make the area look cluttered. Consider a small storage closet with shelving, so that you can place all of your media here.

Basement Remodel Project Tip 2: Choose the Right Seating

If your entertainment room does NOT have comfortable seating, no one will want to spend time with you in the room. You need to make sure that you take your time choosing the perfect seating for the room.

While you do want a comfortable couch and a kick butt recliner, you also need to take into consideration how many people you need to seat and the layout of the room. You may find that two couches and three recliners is the right amount or you may need a huge sectional and two recliners.

Basement Remodel Project Tip 3: Make the TV the Focal Point

Your entertainment room is about entertainment, right? Make the TV your focal point and do your best to make sure that you purchase the right size TV or the space you have. How disappointing would it be to have a beautiful entertainment room with a 19-inch television? You should choose the size of the TV based on the size of the room.

Basement Remodel Project Tip 4: Don’t Forget About Sound

Lastly, you need to think about the sound in your entertainment room as well. Your basement will naturally echo, so it needs to be soundproofed before you create any room. Once done, you can then play around with surround sound, acoustics, and other sound effects to create the perfect balance.
