Bathroom Vanity: Tips for Choosing the Right One

When it comes time to choose a bathroom vanity, you will be faced with many different buying options from the style to the size to the color and more. Before you settle on the first nice looking bathroom vanity you see, take some time to shop around and explore the different options. Below, we will go over some tips to help you choose the right one for your bathroom space.

1. Decide Where to Place the Bathroom Vanity

Before you even start shopping for a bathroom vanity, you need to decide where you plan to place it and figure out how much room you have available. If you purchase a vanity that is too large, it will over power your bathroom and a vanity that is too small will look out of place.

2. Determine What You Will Use Your Bathroom Vanity For

If you plan to use your vanity for storage, you will need to determine what type of items you want to store in your vanity and how many drawers or cabinets you need. For example, if you plan to store makeup and hair accessories, you may want a vanity that has built in drawers on the top of the unit for easy access. A single bottom drawer or cabinet will not be enough and will only lead to a mess of items in the space.

3. Consider the Counter of the Bathroom Vanity

Before you settle on a base for the vanity, you need to consider the countertop. Consider what material you want the countertop to be, the color, and of course, how many sinks you plan to have. You can then decide whether to have on-counter storage as mentioned above.

Once you have chosen the countertop, you can then choose the base, which is much easier to match once you have chosen the top.

4. Your Personal Preferences Matter

One thing that many homeowners do is they sacrifice their personal preferences for what is trendy or what looks good now. You should avoid doing this as you will find that you are unhappy with the vanity you choose. Something that is in style now will not be in style in a few years, so always go with your personal preference. If you feel you want to have a smaller vanity and then add on the wall shelving or in the wall shelving, go for it.

While choosing a vanity for your bathroom is a top priority, you also need to make sure that you are choosing the right bathtub for your bathroom as well. If you do not choose the right tub, you may use too much space or you may feel like the area is cluttered.

If you do have the room available, consider a master bathroom suite addition. It will add a touch of elegance and privacy to your room.
