If you have a restaurant, it is your responsibility to add elements to it that make the place feel luxurious. Your customers are not going to pay expensive menu prices to enter into a mediocre restaurant with shabby chairs and dusty fans.
Below, we will go over some of the top design mistakes that restaurants make, which take their luxurious place from elegant to unpleasant.
Mistake 1: Uncomfortable Seating
The seating in your restaurant should be comfortable. If it is not, your customers will want to shovel in food and leave quickly. Your restaurant should offer an array of seating from comfortable bar chairs to plush booths and larger tables for bigger families.
When you are purchasing your restaurant furniture, make sure you sit in the chairs and booths first to see how comfortable they really are.
Mistake 2: Dirty Carpets
Dirty carpets smell and they will turn your guests away quickly. In fact, it is generally recommended that restaurants shy away from carpet, especially since they can diminish the luxury factor in your restaurant.
You can opt in for a nice hardwood flooring that does not hold on to smells and is easy to keep clean.
Mistake 3: Inadequate Lighting
Who wants to use a flashlight to find their dinner plate on the table? Soft, ambient lighting throughout your restaurant will add elegance to your restaurant. You should have lighting controls that can be dimmed or turned up to full brightness when needed.
Mistake 4: Tacky Décor
Who really wants to look at pictures of you and your family as they are trying to eat? Your restaurant’s décor should match the scene of the restaurant and you should keep décor to a minimum. You do not want your restaurant to look like a thrift shop, so limit what you hang on the walls and place on the shelves.
Mistake 5: Unkempt Plants
If you are eating your dinner, the last thing you want is to look up and see a fake ficus tree with dust looming over you. First, if you plan to have plants in your restaurant, make sure you clean them on a regular basis, but it is best advised to keep plants out of the dining room.
