Getting Ready for Some Spring Cleaning

It’s that time of year again when spring cleaning comes into play, and getting rid of that extra clutter is a key element to having a fresh start in your home. It can be overwhelming to think about, so prioritizing what needs to be done is the first step to cleaning up and redesigning all the different rooms in your household.

The Benefits of Spring Cleaning

People underestimate how much stress from their lives will be alleviated from having a nice, organized room. Decluttering your house will make you feel like you have a less chaotic life, and with all the busy days that fill our weeks it will help you feel great and ready to take on each day with as much ease as possible. Not only will spring cleaning eliminate a lot of extra stress, but it will help you and your family have a more productive lifestyle.

How to Get Started

Starting your annual spring cleaning is usually the hardest part, but as long as you have a plan of attack things will go much easier than you are imagining. The first step is to take a look around the room that you are attempting to reorganize and gathering everything that you feel doesn’t belong there anymore. This is the part of the process that gives you a lot of insight as to what the possibilities are for changing things around, and you’ll find that it’s much easier to visualize what direction you want to take it once clutter is removed.

Organizing Your Space

Start separating your items by their function or purpose that way you can see what you have. Clothes, for example, are one of the things that people tend to accumulate over the months without realizing how much of it they have. Put aside what you want to keep and place the rest in a donation or “sell” pile so that you have the freedom to see what you own.

Get storage containers out and start putting things in their appropriate boxes, and then all that will be left is what you need to get rid of. Labeling boxes can be especially helpful in the reorganization process, because it will take away a lot of the stress of not knowing where specific things are.

As boxes get filled you can put them away in the spaces that you feel is a good place for them. Repeat the process as many times as you need until the room is a clean and beautiful looking area that doesn’t require much thought to locate things as you need them. You will be surprised how much better you’ll feel with something as simple as spring cleaning, and it’s a great way to kick off the summer months.
