When it comes to designing your home’s interior space, you want to go for luxury and not boring or out of date. Before you delve into your redesigning project, it is important that you sit down and think about the following design myths to avoid.
People often tell others not to do this or to make they do this, but in all actuality, these people are giving you the wrong advice and in return, you are removing that luxury and elegant feeling from your home.
Myth 1: Lighting Isn’t That Important
Wrong. Lighting is everything. Whether you use natural lighting or you add artificial lighting throughout your home, you need to have high and low points. To add a nice ambiance to any room, you should have lights that can be adjusted by brightness.
Myth 2: Placement of Your Appliances Doesn’t Matter
Again, wrong. The placement of your appliances is the difference between having everything you need right at your fingertips and running around the kitchen like a chicken with its head cut off.
For instance, when you are doing the dishes, do you want to walk across the entire kitchen to place the plates in the dishwasher? No. Therefore, you need to strategically place all of your kitchen appliances AND make sure there is ample room.
Myth 3: Your Couch Just Needs to Look Nice and That’s It
Your couch is one of the items in your home that you want to splurge on. Your couch should be comfortable and look nice. Don’t forget you also need to make sure that the couch is proportionate to the room that it is in as well. If you choose a couch that is too large, it will make the room look cluttered and small.
Myth 4: Your Ceiling Must Be White
While most ceilings in every home are white, you are not bound to this color by any means. And, in fact, you can choose another color to help enhance your home’s décor and draw the right attention upwards.
If you are redesigning the interior of your home and you need help debunking some myths or you simply want an expert opinion, the team at J. Design Group is ready to help you. We have years of experience helping clients add a touch of luxury to their homes.
