Shower Tiles Can Enhance Your Bathroom: Tips for Making a Decision

When you think about your shower tiles, do you actually give them any thought or are they just simply part of the bathroom? Many homeowners never do give their shower tiles a second thought and just leave them alone. If you did not know, your shower tiles do play an important role in your bathroom’s design and choosing the wrong style or shape can actually affect the way your bathroom looks. Below, we will go over some tips to help you when it comes to making a decision about the tiles in your shower.

1. Create a Feature Wall with Tiles

If you want to add some contrast to your bathroom, use a second set of tiles in a different color to add contrast and create a feature wall. This wall can enhance the way your bathroom looks and draw guests’ eyes to a focal point.

2. Walk-in Shower

If you have a walk-in shower, you may want to simply use the same floor tile in your shower stall that is already throughout your bathroom. This is not always a good idea because your tiles may not offer the slip resistance that you need. To help make your bathroom look nice and keep your shower stall slip resistant, you can simply have the bathroom tile pitched around the shower stall and then use a smaller tile inside of the shower stall. Smaller tiles are easier to move around on, especially when your feet are wet, so you will be able to maintain the look in your bathroom while not slipping around all over the floor.

3. You Still Have to Clean Your Shower Tiles

If you are one that does not like to clean unless you have to, you may want to consider larger slabs of tile in your bathroom as opposed to smaller tiles. In addition, you can utilize glass more so than tiles to make cleaning a breeze.

4. Curves Need Small Shower Tiles

If you have any curves in your shower including on a shower bench, you should utilize small tiles as opposed to large ones. The small tiles are easily customized to fit the curves and will create a smooth, even flow, whereas larger tiles may create confusion.

5. Glass Shower Tiles Should Be Colored

If you want glass tiles in your shower, consider choosing a color as clear glass can easily show water that gets trapped behind it and condensation that forms. When you have colored glass, the condensation and remaining water does not show as easily.
