Small Living Room: How to Combat the Tiny Space with Ease

by Support Team .

Thursday, September 1, 2016

If you have a small living room in your home, you probably wish you could simply knock down some of the drywall and open it up, right? This is not always a feasible idea and unless you plan on a complete remodel of the interior of your home, you will have to learn how to work with the space you have.

A small living room is not the end of the world and you will find that you can turn this space into the elegant room you want it to be. The first thing you need to do is understand HOW you can create a beautiful space with the limited square footage at hand.

Small Living Room Tip 1: Choose Smaller Furniture Pieces

Large furniture can really crowd a room and cause it to look smaller than it is. Since your living room is already small, you do not want to make it feel any smaller than it needs to be. You should choose smaller pieces of living room furniture to add to your room. While the pieces may be smaller, they will help enlarge the room and no one will even notice that the couch is a cushion shorter than it should be.

Small Living Room Tip 2: Choose Neutral Colors

Bright colors have the tendency to make a room pop, but they can also make the room feel small and cluttered. Your best bet for a small living room is to choose neutral colors as they will complement the space instead of detract from it. Your best options include white, beige, light browns, and golds.

Small Living Room Tip 3: Mirrors Are Your Friend

Mirrors can liven any room and help make the space appear larger. Do not be afraid to place mirrors in your living room. In fact, if you want to have a focal piece on the wall, opt in for a large mirror.

Your small living room does not have to be a place you hate, but it can be a place you love to go and unwind. With the right lighting and perfect decorations, your small living room will not appear so small after all.
