Family Room In New Construction HomeHardwood flooring is beautiful and it can certainly add elegance to any office décor but do you know which type of flooring is the best option for your office space? It can be a hard decision because it’s a lot more to selecting the right type of flooring than picking out a color or even a style.

For example, the first thing you need to consider is durability. You need flooring that will hold up for a very long time, so you have to consider the environment. The last thing you want is for the floors to start looking old and worn long before they should. Not only would this make a bad impression on your clients but it would also mean having to replace the flooring long before you should have to.

Types of Hardwood Flooring

The first thing you need to do before making your decision is to learn a little about the different types of hardwood flooring available. You can make a better decision when you have all the facts, so take some time to research the different types of hardwood floors you’re the most interested in using for your office.

To help you get started, below are some of the most common types of hardwood flooring available:

  • White Oak is a light brown wood with visible black grain lines. It’s a popular choice due to its durability and most people choose to stain it a darker color.
  • Red Oak is similar to the white oak with a more pinkish color instead of brown. It’s an excellent choice for an office because it goes great with any design and it holds up well in high traffic areas.
  • Maple and Birch are almost the same. They both are a whitish color wood with light brown grain lines that go perfect with a modern design. Most people use a clear finish on these and they hold up well in high traffic areas.
  • Walnut is a beautiful brown color perfect for any décor but it’s softer than oak, so it’s best for areas with moderate traffic.
  • Pine is a soft wood with a light brownish color that’s easy to finish but it’s not recommended for heavy traffic areas because it’s easy to dent and scratch.
  • Cherry has a reddish brown color to offset any décor but its also soft wood that dents and scratches easily.
  • Ash is a light brown color that looks a lot like oak but without the black grains. It’s not as popular as oak or maple because it can be difficult to finish.

Since some hardwood floors are softer than others are, you’ll need to determine how much traffic you expect to see on a daily basis and choose a flooring to match your environment.

Ask the Experts for Help

Even when you know a little about the different types of hardwood flooring, it can still be difficult to make a decision. In addition to needing something that will be durable, you also need to know what grade flooring to choose and you need to make sure it goes with the rest of your decor. This is where a professional interior designer can help you make the best decision for your office flooring.

Your interior designer can also help you choose the best contractor to install your hardwood flooring once you have decided which type is best for your office.
