If you have a deck in your backyard, you probably love the additional room that it provides you with in your backyard. If you do not have one and you want to build one, you will love the escape that it provides you with.

There are many different styles of decks that you can create from a sheltered or terraced deck to an entertainment or intimate deck. Your options are endless and each deck style will add flare to your home.

If you have a wood deck, you likely want to color it, so that it has more appeal and so that it matches your home’s exterior better.

Wood Decking Stain Option 1: Tinted Deck Stains

Tinted deck stains are perfect for homeowners who want a soft color, but nothing too overwhelming. The tint is light and you can apply as many layers as needed to achieve the color you want. There are many different tints to choose from and you can choose from either light or dark and everything in between.

Wood Decking Stain Option 2: Solid Deck Stains

Solid deck stains are usually used for decks that are considered weathered and old. These stains are often dark and they hide imperfections on the deck itself, which makes them an ideal option. You will likely only find a handful or two of choices, if you go with this option.

Wood Decking Stain Option 3: Semitransparent Deck Stains

Semitransparent deck stains offer a higher color than the tint, but not as strong as the solid. This type of stain is ideal for those who want to have a beautiful deck and are not afraid of some color.

Wood Decking Stain Option 4: Clear Deck Stains

Clear deck stains are perfect for those who like the color of their current deck and do not want to change it. The clear stain will seal the deck and provide you with protection against weathering.

If you are trying to decide between a colored or tinted deck stain for your deck, consider what color you want and what you are trying to accomplish. Deck stains also help to protect the wood on your deck, so they offer more benefits than just the added color.
